After many months of no updates, I'm glad to say I will be reviving this idea.
Digi-Know?
For many months after the release of Digimon Savers, Gaomon was incorrectly called a wolf? Recently, this error has been corrected, with most places changing him to a puppy-like digimon. But what is Gaomon really? The pride and joy of Japan, an Akita Inu!
Gaomon's Akita Traits
Gaomon shares many traits with the akita, including:
+Floppy ears- Akita Inu have floppy ears as puppies, which straighten out and harden as they grow up. In his child form, gaomon's ears are floppy, but as Gaogamon, they straighten.
+Curly tail- that tight curl in Gaomon's tail is a signature trait of a well-bred Akita
+Spiraling Fighting Pattern- Japanese folklore and manga often depict dogs fighting in a spiral pattern. A prime example is the similarity between Gaomon's 'Rolling Upper' and Gin's (Ginga Nagareboshi Gin) Zetsu Tenrou Battouga. Both incorporate spinning to add power to the blow.
+Fur Markings- Gaomon's markings (although not color) are Akita Standard
+Star- That star marking on Gaomon's forehead? Where do you think it came from? More than likely, a famous fighting Akita from the Manga Shiroi Senshi Yamato. Yamato bears the same star in the same spot on his forehead.
+Body Type- The round, large head, big paws, droopy jaws, and relatively small ears are all spitz breed (Akita) characteristics.
Okay, show of hands. Who knew that?
