...is Keenan Crier.
Now I'm beyond complaining about name changes. The original names are better, but I don't watch the dub enough for it to effect me anyways. Though I always wish they'd keep the names, I know my ranting on it will change nothing. But... Keenan!? I don't know about the rest of you, but all that does is remind me of TeenNick from ten years ago. And did they have to change ALL the main characters' names? At least in past series, they'd leave one or two the same.
But enough of my ranting. What do you guys think of this?

People get themselves worked up WAY too easily over something so low in significance it bothers me. People act as if the dub is going to replace the original completely in mainstream, as if changing Ikuto to Keenan meant "OH NO, WE CAN'T CALL HIM IKUTO ANYMORE," which is bull. People got over names like Davis, Yolei, and even J.P, and they still get by calling them Daisuke, Miyako and Junpei. Keenan is no worse, and people freak out about it because it doesn't start with an "I."
Honestly, what other names could ya come up with that are any better? A friend and I thought up Icarus, and many people speculated names like Isaac. Now, the more I look at Ikuto, the more I keep thinking "Keenan."

You misunderstood me if you think I'm getting worked up over it. I don't like the name change, just like I dislike most dub changes which are generally unnecessary (i.e. age changes, dialogue being cut out, obvious airbrushing in episode 48 of Frontier >.>). Keenan may be a decent name, but what was wrong with the original name? Little kids could say Ikuto just as well as they could say Takato or Takuya, which were left unchanged. Point being, I don't like the name change, especially since it didn't really seem necessary to change it in the first place.
However, I'm NOT gonna go around bashing the dub and annoying people with complaints that they should have stuck to the original. While it's my opinion that the original is better, I don't really care what they put in the dub since I'm probably not gonna see much of it anyways (don't have ToonDisney), and even if I did watch the whole series in dub it wouldn't bother me much aside from an occasional mental groan. (I'll never be able to take "I am Marcus Damon, Japan's number one street fighter!" seriously.) I'll always have my subs, and I can be entertained without an exact to-the-script dub. (Unless the voices turn out to really suck. That's what'll get under my skin, if it happens.)
So I'm not whining or complaining about the name, and you've probably just heard so much of that that you're ready to jump on anyone who says anything negative about it. But I'm not. I'm simply and calmly stating that I don't like the change. I don't like it, but I'll live with it.

Haha, that wasn't really meant towards you, it was to most people in general. People talk about dub changes as if it's the end of Digimon and that they'll never, ever, EVER be able to see or mention the original ever again. As if there aren't people who still call Davis "Daisuke" or Matt "Yamato."
The original and subs will always be here, but when the announcement for the dub came around everyone freaked out as if that hot chick that worked in the cubicle next to you at work got fired and replaced with a more diligent but not-quite-as-attractive 40 year old woman with a masculine voice and Butch haircut. Reality is, they just promoted the cute one to Secretary, but nobody cares to notice it because the ugly one is stirring up the most attention.
Strange comparison, but that's how I see it. ^^;

*nods* Then I guess I'm just the one being paranoid. XP
I've never liked dubs, at least not as well as the originals. Some series, such as Gundam SEED, have really good dubs. Still, due to the level of the VAs' skills, and the way things need to be translated to fit, I always prefer to watch everything subbed before attempting to watch it in English. It does, though, get annoying when all anyone can do is rant about how they hate dubs, especially since in most of the cases they're only qualifications of a good dub would be no different from the original. If I can't stand a dub (i.e. Azumanga Daioh) I'll just not watch it. In my opinion, a really bad dub isn't even worth complaining about.

Wow, usually the dub names have some relevance to the originals, but I don't see this relevance at all. Ah well...

I just think Keenan is a totally stupid name. (Honestly, can you tell me that you'll take an angry character seriously with a name like Keenan?) We might as well call Yoshino Laquisha. XD Oh well, it's not my call. I'll just have to accept it, Keenan included.

(Honestly, can you tell me that you'll take an angry character seriously with a name like Keenan?) Honestly, I can tell you that I'll take Ikuto seriously with a name like Keenan. But he's not an angry character. He was only angry when they first met him. We might as well call Yoshino Laquisha. Never once have I heard the name Laquisha. Ever. If it exists, it's nowhere near as common as Keenan. I know of at least three people personally named Keenan or Kenan, and two famous people. Anybody who names their kid Laquisha probably didn't want to get pregnant to begin with...

Mario, this post is too old to reply too, and also, your post is off topic.
