is it legal to have a giant screen TV at some public place where anyone can watch anime, as long as i am NOT selling it? I need to know, cuz i intend to open an anime themed resturant when i start my career.

If it's for comercial use (such as a resturant) then yes, you need to have an agreement with whoever has the licencing for it.

Wait wouldn't that only count if the customers were paying to watch anime on TV? As opposed to actually just having a TV and just have anime playing on it while customers just sit down and watch the anime if they want to? Or am I incorrect?

that's why i'm confused. like a bar can show a football game or somehting else, so can i show anime? They're not paying to watch the anime, theyre paying to eat, and the anime is a bonus.

I suppose it depend on whether the channel is in a cable package your establishment is paying for. You cannot show DVDs or VHS of anime on the screens without breaking some copyright laws. You'd have to find a cable package with an anime channel and just put the TV on that.

LOL Same here. But yeah dude if you get FiOS you'll be able to get an anime channel, something with iO TV, you'll just have to pay a little extra for that.

But will they have Megaman starforce, Digimon, Bleach, and case closed? I plan to show more than that, but i have yet to see a channel that shows all of them.

You could show them from the internet.

Not easily. I planned to have it on a DVD and have it playing a line up of different shows. Like the first thing would be Case Closed, second would be Bleach, third would be Lucky Star, etc.

To play them from the DVDs in a public place you would have to obtain a license from funimation or whoever owns it to do so

Typically, yes, but it depends on who you talk to. Maybe you could offer to host conventions and whatnot. I know quite a few guys on the production staffs are major fanboys themselves.
