Mr. Obama issued a statement after Dr. Tiller’s killing, saying, “However profound our differences as Americans over difficult issues such as abortion, they cannot be resolved by heinous acts of violence.”
Ironically, pro-life people would call abortions a heinous act of violence as well. That really wasn't a good choice of words :/

Ok, so apparently he performed abortions past the 28th week of pregnancy. That's way late imo (see my previous reply about brain activity starting in week #25). I'd say the guy who killed the doctor was a radical extremist of the anti-abortion group.

From a psych standpoint, i think he was crazy, and it just manifested itself in anti-abortion. He had his 'thing' to obsess over, like many psychos do. It just happened to be this. *shrug*

I see abortion not as a way to get rid of unwanted babies but as a way to prevent harm to the mother as an action of last resort until a better way to deal with the problem is created.
As for the killing of the doctor even more irony could be generated if they give the killer the death sentence.
In all seriousness his actions were unnecessary; the good doctor was better at putting his foot in his mouth, all biases aside I am sorry for him and his family, and hope that mercy abounds, after all God even called murderers to be his prophets.
As for 'Pulling the God card' I too am a Christan and I could fill the forum with the things I could say about God; but out of respect for those of other faiths I will try to avoid it; but if you bring it up I'll start talking.

There were posts in between that got deleted, Starfox. Lilly's only arguements was her faith- which, aside from the fact that there is a seperation between church and state, doesn't cover the entire US. All I was saying was to for her to have had something else as argument and not using God as an excuse when she had no defence.

Could you tell me where she did not have a defense? Maybe I could help out there.

Well, i dont think it really matters now anyway. She obviously no longer wants a part in this, and you already stated you were (mostly?) pro-choice.
As for the killer, like i said, i think he's probably insane. If they can't get therapy for him then, ironic or not, the death penalty would be best. There's nothing worse than dying from deterioation of the mind, especially when the crime you committed was due to that insanity. Kinda like putting an animal down thats in too much pain to survive peacefully (only mental pain, not physical)

I think that my dear old state has thrown out the death penalty so it's life in prison for him.

Probably. Like I said though, from the looks of things he was insane. Maybe some therapy will at least make being caged up less difficult. I would think by his actions/mental health he would be a danger to himself/other prisoners without it.
